The Wedding Guide

Tips for a Stress-Free Wedding Day

Details & Outfits

  • Veil weights: If you’re wearing a veil, bring a few weights to keep it from flying in the wind.

  • Have your dress, veil, jewelry, shoes, invitations, and rings together in one spot for detail photos.

  • Ask your florist to leave the extra cuttings for me — they make gorgeous flat-lay detail shots.

  • Steam dresses and suits the day before so everything looks fresh. Steaming the day of can cause last-minute stress and even ruin makeup or hair.

Portraits & Emotions

  • Give me all the emotion. Laugh big, kiss long, snuggle close, and don’t be afraid to be playful. Your photos will shine when you let loose and be yourselves.

  • Don’t worry about looking “perfect” — focus on enjoying each other, and I’ll handle the rest.

  • Don’t rush your bride and groom portraits. I know it can feel like people are waiting, but these are the portraits your grandkids will cherish. Guests are usually mingling or snacking — this is your time together.

Bridal Session Prep

  • Don’t forget about your bridal session. Most brides schedule it about a month before the wedding — it’s the perfect time for a makeup and hair trial so you know exactly how you’ll look on your big day.

  • Be sure to bring a bouquet to your bridal session! It adds so much to the portraits and ties everything together beautifully.

  • If you’d like to add on a boudoir session or even another engagement session in a cool location, let me know — I’m always down for an adventure with my couples!

Ceremony & First Kiss

  • Rehearse your first kiss — it helps with nerves and makes sure it’s not too quick.

  • On the way back down the aisle, you don’t have to do a dip kiss. Do whatever feels natural — a heel lift kiss, a lift, or simply soaking in the moment together.

  • If you’re not planning a big send-off, make your ceremony exit special with flower petals, bubbles, or something fun.

Family & Guests

  • Make a family photo list ahead of time so portraits move quickly and smoothly.

  • Add table photos with your guests into your reception timeline — it’s a wonderful way to be sure you get pictures with everyone.

Reception & Stress-Free Flow

  • Try to stay together during the reception. It’s easy to get pulled in different directions, but staying close means more photos together and more shared memories.

  • Snuggle into each other during toasts — not only is it a sweet moment to enjoy, but it makes for adorable photos.

  • Build in buffer time into your timeline to keep everything relaxed.

  • Don’t stress about the weather. Some of the most beautiful photos happen in unexpected conditions.
